Dear Members,
New Year wishes
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a happy and prosperous new year and all the best for 2013.
I would like to thank all members that attend the AGM on the 30th December.
New Year’s Day we had 39 swimmers in the water raising €225.70 for the Lifeboat.
It is great to see the interest alive and well in the club. For those who could’t make the AGM by now you will have received the minutes and hopefully read them. As you will have read we had a busy meeting. There are a few thing I would like to draw your attention to.
Membership fees
It was agreed to increase the fees for 2013 to help with the repayment of our mortgage on the club house, for the extra fee we hope that you will enjoy the club house over the year. Membership and Junior Sailing courses can now be paid on line.
Fundraising Monthly Draw
We will have a draw ever month starting the last Sunday in April until March 2014. 12 Draws for €100.00 with cash prizes of €800.00 per month. The committee needs all members to get behind them on this as we will need to sell as many tickets as possible. The committee members will have tickets available for any member who needs tickets for selling. The tickets can also be bought on the website so this should make it a bit easier to sell over the phone when you ring that friend you haven’t see in a while and owes you a favour.
Events for 2013
We will have all the usual regatta over the season. Squibs are moving to racing on Saturday with the Dragons. We are hoping that Sunday can become more of a family day on the water with family get more involved in dinghy racing.
Classic Boat Regatta
The regatta will be held from 20th-26th July.
The classic boat regatta was first held in 1990 to raise funds for the clubs development. Here we are today in our new club house that the classic boat regatta has raised many of the funds we used in the purchase. So this year we are hoping to have the best regatta ever!! To say Thanks You to all involved in the regatta over the years. If you are interested in help the committee over the week of the event please speak with one of the members.
All the best for now
